Getting there

On the day of the Fair, Mill Road is closed to most traffic from East Road to Coleridge Road between 9.00am and 5.30pm.

By bus

The Citi 2 bus is diverted due to the road closure and does not run down Mill Road between 9.00am and 5.30pm. The nearest places to pick up the Citi 2 are on Perne Road near to the junction of Mill Road/Brookfields, on Coldhams Lane and on Emmanuel Street. The 114 service to Addenbrookes runs as normal.

The guided bus services stop at the Railway Station and Drummer Street: see the timetables. The Park and Ride services can also be picked up in the city (see below for routes and destinations).

By bike/scooter

We like to encourage cycling but, for safety reasons, you are required to dismount and push your bike through the road closure area.

Electric scooters and electric bikes must not be ridden through the road closure.

By train

Mill Road is a 10-minute walk from the Railway Station.

Exit Cambridge station ticket hall and turn right. Walk past the Ibis Hotel and through the station car park towards the red footbridge. Follow the walkway left under the bridge to the road and turn right onto Devonshire Road. Mill Road is at the end of Devonshire Road.

By car

During the Fair, from 9.00am to 5.30pm, Mill Road is closed to traffic, and traffic nearby is likely to be congested. Gwydir Street Car Park is also closed from the previous evening until the end of Fair day as it is the site of the food fair. Great Eastern Street Car Park is also closed.

The nearest car parks are Queen Anne Car Park, the Grafton Centre Car Park and at Clifton Way (Cambridge Leisure Park).

There are also Park and Ride Car Parks on most approaches to the city, with buses every 10-15 minutes. Trumpington Road Park and Ride (Blue Route) stops at John Lewis on Downing Street. Newmarket Road Park and Ride (Orange Route) stops at the Grafton Centre then Drummer Street. Babraham Road Park and Ride (Green Route) stops at the Station then Drummer Street. Madingley Road Park and Ride (Red Route) stops at St Andrews Street. Milton Park and Ride (Purple Route) stops at Drummer Street.

Information about diversions in place due to the road closure can be found on the County Council website.

Disabled parking

With a Blue Badge, you can park on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours except where there is a ban on loading or unloading or it causes an obstruction. Look at the City Council and County Council websites for more information on this.

If you have a Blue Badge, you should be able to park on any of the accessible two-way approach roads to Mill Road, as long as there are no special restrictions, such as St Barnabas Road, Tenison Road, Devonshire Road (in Petersfield) or Hope Street, Cavendish Road (in Romsey). Please be aware that the back ways to Hope Street and Cavendish Road are difficult to find if you do not know the area.
