Mill Road Music 2011

There will be music happening in all sorts of unexpected places.  Click to see an updated version of the Mill Road Music programme found in the brochure. This programme covers what is going on at designated busking spots, in the marquee in Hope Street Yard and later in the day at the Romsey Labour Club (you can download a great poster for this free music session). You can also take a look at a document giving information about buskers and musicians and you can browse through details of most musicians in the Events listings.

But these are not the only places you will discover music on Mill Road, so look further down the page for some more clues.

Events at busking spots start on the hour every hour from 11.00 - 16.00 and performances will last more or less 45 minutes. You will find these busking spots along the length of Mill Road, starting from the East Road end:

  • Beside the Cycle Repair Shop, opposite Guest Road
  • Near the Avenue of Limes
  • At the Food Fair in Gwydir Street car park
  • Outside Regent Language School at the bottom of Mill Road bridge
  • In front of Cavendish Shoes, Cavendish Road
  • In front of the Co-op, corner of Catherine Street

There is a programme of music in the marquee in Hope Street Yard all day from 10.00 - 18.30.  See the Mill Road Music programme for exact details of who is playing when.

The free music session at Romsey Labour Club will run from 16.30 - 22.40.  See the Mill Road Music programme for details of who will play when and you can download a poster to print and display.

But there will be music in other places too (again starting from the East Road end of Mill Road):

  • See the Look Out page for details of Arco Iris playing just after 11.00, and choirs at 12.00 and 14.00, on Donkey Common and for details of Parades and street events and Morris and Molly dancing
  • There is a programme of entertainment in Ditchburn Gardens from 10.00 - 16.00
  • When you visit the Food Fair in Gwydir Street car park, pop in to Hot Numbers for live music with coffee or catch performances by Ellis & Connelly at 12.00 and at 16.00 in the CAMS Gallery next door
  • There is an open stage for local performers in the Argyle Street Housing Co-operative car park (ASHCOOP) all day and the Arco Iris community samba band will play there at about 15.50 at the end of their parade, with HATS!, from Romsey Mill
  • Hear choirs at Romsey Mill while you are making your HATS! or entertaining your children (see the Look Out page for more details)

You'll be able to find all these locations on maps at our Information Points on the day of the Fair or look at the map in your brochure. Major venues are shown on the Google map on this site. You will also be able to access this website at computers at our Information Points or on your mobile phone.
