Inspired by two previous sell-out Mill Road Fringe events, a newly-formed poetry group is bringing spoken word to Cambridge in 2024. Four poetry evenings presented by Mill Road Fringe and Mill Road Poetry Group will take place across the spring and autumn, in partnership with Hot Numbers on Gwydir Street: on 14th March, 30th May, 10th October and 28th November.
Poetry brings together the many voices of our city and enables us to explore ourselves and the world around us within a supportive community. Furious, joyful, timid or loud, all poetry is welcome, so please come along.
These events will be led by writer Lottie Walker in collaboration with ARU lecturer and poet, Jon Stone. Readers will include members of local creative writing groups and poets who have contacted Mill Road Poetry Group following the last Mill Road Fringe poetry evening. However, we are eager to hear your work, so please email [email protected] if you would like to perform.
Tickets will be available to purchase one month before each Poetry Thursday; you may only book for one event at a time. Entry is £5.
Doors open at 6.30pm. Poetry starts at 7pm and runs until around 9pm.
Refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the evening.
To ensure that each poet receives equal support, we ask that you stay for the whole evening.
The March Poetry Thursday event has sold out. If you would like to purchase tickets for the 30th May Poetry Thursday, please check this web page again on or just after 30th April as we plan to put tickets on sale one month before the date.
There will be two more Poetry Thursdays in the Autumn, on 10th October and 28th November. In the meantime, you can find details of other upcoming poetry and creative writing events on the ARU Cambridge Writing Centre website.
